Hi, Mark:

This sounds like a possible error in the compiler or a runtime routine for ILE COBOL .. I would open a PMR with IBM to report the problem, just in case, to see what they have to say . Especially helpful (for your PMR) if you can create a small OPM and ILE COBOL program that reproduces the error in the minimum # of lines of code.

All the best,
Mark S. Waterbury

Chris,

I've found out why it's not working!

These new programs are called inside an existing process which is OPM. My new programs were ILE. By changing them to OPM it all works fine!

I've not had any problems integrating OPM& ILE before but it certainly solved the issue. Unfortunately I don't understand why but if anyone out there can explain I'd appreciate it.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for replying.

There is only one file in the program and yes I am checking the field
assigned in the select.

I have been writing cobol for 20+ years and have never seen this happen
before. I have raised a PMR with IBM.

Check if the status that you are checking is actually assigned to this file
and then that it is not being updated by other files

Hi,

I've got an ILE Cobol program I've just written that reads through the
output of a DSPFFD command but when it tries to read it I am being returned
a blank file status but successfully returns the first record.

It successfully opened the file, returning a '00' file status for that
operation, which suggests to me I've got everything correctly setup.

In debug (I'm using SEP in RDp) I have set the status to '00' and continued
to the next read and I get the same issue.

The file is selected as a sequential file (as it has no key) with an access
mode of sequential and I am using declaratives but it doesn't seem to
execute the declaratives.

Has anyone got any idea what is causing this?

Best regards,
