Hi

Seems that CBLLE is accepting this type of copy but not CBL.
And the file can be a physical file if the structure is ok.

COPY SELECTEXUH IASTP089 is not correct but the ILE compiler assumes the OF.
SEU trows an error as well but it can be ignored.

That's the fun part of it all. This is a 3rd party package we don't have
the source code for the entire package. The IASTP089 is a PF-DTA (not
SRC) and it's compiled on the fly during the process run. So I'm working
from the documentation for creating a program that uses their "API" hook.
From everything I read I had pretty much determined that it was COPY
MEMBER OF FILE (but never seen it without the OF before). So this should
be interesting to say the least. What's worse is trying to wrap my brain
around all of this to put into RPG (we have no COBOL programmers, heck i'm
the ONLY programmer on this platform!) the linkage, etc is no problem
that copy statement just threw me for a loop. I guess i'll just have to
wing it...

Thanks,
Tommy Holden

Tommy,

They are probably using a copybook in the File-Control section.
The member name is SELECTEXUH and the source file is IASTP089.

When you compile the program and look at the post list you'll
spot it for sure :)

Ok i've seen COPY statements many times but this is the first
time i've
run into this before (and try googling COPY SELECT...)

The statement is:

COPY SELECTEXUH IASTP089

The corresponding data division code:
FD EXUHFILE
LABEL RECORDS STANDARD
COPY FDEXUH

Can someone tell me in plain English exactly what this is
doing? (bear in
mind i'm an RPG guy..not COBOL so simple is better)

Thanks,
Tommy Holden
