Hi Bruce,
I had a look on the internet at your book and am thinking of buying it but have a quick question for you if I may? Are the example Cobol programs available somewhere for download, if you have bought the book?

In my book, APIs at Work, Chapter 10: Message APIs provides a sample program
which scans the first and second level text of a message file for a given
word. The example program (provided in ILE RPG, OPM RPG, and ILE COBOL)
uses the Retrieve Message API QMHRTVM to access the message descriptions and
the Convert Case API QlgConvertCase so that the search is not case
sensitive.
As you posted to the COBOL list I will add that while the main text of the
book uses free form RPG, ILE COBOL examples for all of the sample programs
are also provided.

Hello,
Is there a way to search for words in the message text in a file of type
*MSGF?
Neither Display(5) nor Work with(12) has such a function...
