Calling WSDL-webservice from COBOL

Hello,

I need to call a WSDL-webservice from ILE COBOL.

I thing, one possible way would be to call a Java program /which then
calls the webservice/ from the COBOL program directly.
Other way could be to use the HTTPAPI
(http://www.scottklement.com/httpapi/)

Any other ideas?
Does anyone on the list have experience with calling Java programs or web
services from COBOL?
