Good idea, Michael, but where do I start?

I have already made a very simple COBOL/HEX-encryption that will work, but
it could be interesting to have a look at this as well...

Geir,

I have not used this (yet) but have been studying it. We just migrated our
DB2/VSE database to UDB/iSeries.

If you don't have the CD installed locally on a PC, go to iSeries
Information Center on the Internet(
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/index.jsp ). Be
patient because the web site is sometimes incredibly slow. Choose "iSeries
Information Center" on the left, then choose "Printable PDFs and manuals" on
the right. Search for "SQL Reference". Click on the PDF option. That will
load the PDF version of the manual. You can then save it locally. There are
probably some others that you would want as well like "Embedded SQL
Programming" and "SQL Programming". Start with the Reference and search on
"encrypt". That should get you started.
