hi. If you are logged on to a session, only one pwd is valid for that session. If your supervisor are logging in, it must be a new session and a new pwd, wouldn't it? In that instance, the password being validated will not be that of the logged in user. Could the CL-cmd 'CHKPWD' be useful in this setting? Mvh. / Best regards Geir Kildal IT-konsulent Nordea Finans Norge AS Storgt. 10 2815 Gj?vik Tlf.: +47 611 36428 Mob.: +47 90 10 13 16 E-post geir.kildal@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx . -----Original Message----- From: cobol400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:cobol400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of John Arnold Sent: Thursday, April 27, 2006 5:02 PM To: cobol400-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [COBOL400-L] retreiving password for validation I need to pause in a process and require the user to re-enter his password before continuing. Can anyone out there give me an example of how to validate the re-entry of a password? I do not need to see the value; I just need to compare a value entered on the screen with the user's password. One additional twist, we may need a different user to enter both his userid and password. In that case I would need to determine whether the combination entered was valid, again, I do not need to see the password value, I just need to know if the value entered is valid for the userid entered. Any suggestions? John A Arnold (301) 354-2939 jarnold@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
