Hi David

Thanks for the sample. But, in this sample, ARRAY-DATA itself is passed
a parameter to PGMB. I would like to ignore that and instead pass
pointer on this ARRAY-DATA as a parameter. Is it possible? ARRAY-DATA
sub-field layout will be defined only in PGMA and I want to use that in
PGMB by a pointer reference on ARRAY-DATA described in PGMB

I am using COBOL ILE.

Thanks & Regards

Program PGMA:
01 ARRAY-DATA PIC X(1000). or whatever

CALL "PGMB" USING ARRAY-DATA.

program PGMB:

WORKING-STORAGE SECTION.
01 ARRAY-POINTER USAGE POINTER.

LINKAGE SECTION.
01 PASSED-ARRAY PIC X(1000).

PROCEDURE DIVISION USING PASSED-ARRAY.
SET ARRAY-POINTER TO ADDRESS OF PASSED-ARRAY.

That's the bare bones. Then you'll need to work out the array
referencing.

Hi all

I'm looking for a sample program that uses call by reference. I have a
array in PGMA that needs to be processed in PGMB. I would like to ignore
calling the program with the array data itself as a parameter. Instead
would like to use a pointer. If any of you have a sample program that
will explain this functionality, it would be of great help. Please help
with a sample program that uses call by reference

Thanks & Regards
Shiva
