Kelly, You can write directly to the IFS file system (a stream file) with Cobol. You could try this technique with a stub program to see if it creates the file correctly. There was sample code on IBM's "code snippet" site, but apparently that has been discontinued (no surprise here...) Somewhere I have it stored on CD...
