Thanks for the comments Dana, but work-arounds are not what I want - I want IBM to _fix_ it. Either the second program _is_ a subprogram (first call behavior) or it is the main (second call) - it can't be both no matter which way you look at it. A Cancel might "fix" it but only if I don't want any of the variables to retain their content. As to GOBACK. You should never have needed to do this to deal with a release specific ILE COBOL problem. GOBACK should only be needed when it is needed (i.e. if the same program gets called as both a main and a subprogram). There is nothing that I know of in ILE COBOL that would require it. By the way - if you are running COBOL in the default AG (a bad idea but ...) there was a problem (now fixed) with the wrong run unit ending when mixing OPM and ILE. If this sounds like your case you might want to check PTF SI02550 (now replaced by SI03818 apparently). Jon Paris Partner400
