A *MSGF object isn't a file.  It is an index and COBOL has no direct way of 
manipulating 
it.  I suppose you could investigate the MI built-ins for index management that 
C 
provides and call them directly from COBOL but that seems an awkward way of 
doing it.  I 
think you are back to my original suggestion of the QMHRTVM API.
