Assuming that you are refering to a call to an external program (#pragma
linkage) then per the C/C++ Compiler Reference (

The compiler issues a warning message and ignores the #pragma linkage
directive if:

v The program is declared with a return type other than int or void.

v The function contains more than 256 parameters.
