Lol,

Over-engineering? Is there such a thing?!

Well, we are dealing with phone center people who look at there iseries
screen and manually dial the number on it. I have been able to get this
process to work using a C++ command line pgm. The biggest problem I had was
casting one type to another. After trial and error, I was able to map what I
needed and got the pgm to work.

Just curious as what the user's job is who will be initiating the dialing.

I've been near this sort of stuff for 2 decades and the simple question "I
just want to dial a number" is almost never what user really needs in the
end.

My question does beg a question of its own and that is "Am I
over-engineering why you want to do this?" [smile]

Joakim,

I am executing the command using STRPCO/STRPCCMD as

STRPCO PCTA(*NO)
MONMSG IWS4010

CHGVAR &CMD VALUE('c:\dialer.exe' *bcat &ph)
STRPCCMD PCCMD(&cmd) PAUSE(*no)

I then use the &PH parm to dial the number using AYAVA Tapi driver.

OK, let's take one step back. How have you connected the applications?
What means of link and communications are you using for the two programs
to communicate?

Subject: [C400-L] command line argument conversion question

Hello,

I am writing my first C application which will be used to initiate a
phone
call from my iseries application to a c++ pgm on the users pc. I want to
pass the phone number as a command argument, then pass that argument to
the
dialer. My code is as follows:

int WINAPI WinMain( HINSTANCE hInst, HINSTANCE hPrevInst, LPSTR
lpCmdLine,
int nCmdShow ) {

WCHAR szAddressToCall[] = L"201";

if ( S_OK == MakeCall(szAddressToCall) )

Right now, I have cardcoded 201 as the number to dial. I would like to
pass
lpCmdLine. I have no idea how to cast a LPSTR to a WCHAR.

Any help would be wonderful as I learn this new language.

Thanks
