You won't get to see the IBM implementation of this function - that's proprietary code. However, you can always look at any of the source files to fgets() in any of the open source Linux CVS systems, for example; http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/lib/libc/stdio/fgets.c It *won't* necessarily be the same as the iSeries, but it might hint at what you need to know. --phil
