I suggest you look at the ILE C/400 programmers reference.
I had alook now and saw, that such thing like getch() and putch() does not 
exist.
Rather there is getc() and putc() and getchar() and putchar().

getc() and getchar() are prototyped in <stdio.h> as follows :

int getc(FILE *stream) ;
int getchar(void) ;

It is said, that getchar() is equivalent to getc(stdio)
