I'm using the QUSLFLD API in OS/400 V4R5 to get info on the fields in a file. I'm trying to build a default record image. My issue is with dates. Date types *YMD, *DMY & *MDY do not have 'default' separators and can use any of ' ', '/', '-', ',' or '.'. The API will tell me if the user supplied a seperator in the DDS, but otherwise it is blank. The manual says if the user does not supply a seperator, the system value is used. I can get the system value, but how do I determine if the blank in the QUSFLD_Entry->Date_Time_Separator field is a user chosen value or if I need to use the system value? (The manual also states even though there are no default values, the correct value must be used when populating the field.)
