running makefile to compile cpp code library -- C400-L

I have a copy of a  c++ code library and a set of makefiles for compiling
the code on a variety of platforms.  Can I run one of those make files on
the as400 and create a service program?  ( the code compiles into a dll on
the pc )  The plan being to select the makefile for one of the supported
unix platforms and see how far I get on the 400.
