And if you call _C_TS_malloc64, your program can allocate a much larger contiguous area (currently about 512 GB, assuming the system has that much free DASD space to support the request and limited by other applications' teraspace allocations within the process).

The largest single allocation is about 16MB. The size of default heap is
about 4GB per activation group.
