No.  Niklaus Wirth 'invented' Pascal .. then fixed what he didn't like with 
Modula (then 
Modula-2 and 3).  I think the current incarnation is called Oberon.  Borland 
(well, 
Phillipe whaz-is-name) popularised Pascal with the TurboPascal compiler.

Give me PL/1 and I can move the world ....
