This is not true. AS/Set was created by SSA specifically to build BPCS. It was originally developed in a separate facility. The skunkworks for AS/Set was in Westmont and was run by a brilliant architect by the name of Jim Miller, while the corporate offices were in Chicago. But AS/Set was always part of SSA.
