Ignore what I said, where in any way it conflict with Les Mittman comments,
which are vastly superior to mine.
I had not yet seen his post, when I shot off my mouth.

I agree that it makes sense for sequencing:
1. delete fiscal year 2013
2. close fiscal year 2011
3. recreate fiscal year 2013
4. and at each step, do some checking, and consider backups.

Do you have a modification standard such that you can tell which programs
are:
* Vanilla BPCS
* Y2K modified, by whatever means
* In-house, or 3rd party, modified
* Added, which did not come with BPCS

Not all GPM records are valid at the same time.

Until 2011 gets final close, the valid records are: all periods of 2011
(more than are shown), and first 6 periods of 2012.

Once 2011 has been final closed, the valid records will become: all periods
of 2012, and first 6 periods of 2013.

GPM should NOT be changed, except thru BPCS programs. In fact this is true
of BPCS files in general ... none of them should be changed by anyone who
does not have a good understanding of what is supposed to be happening.

There are two things I don't understand about this thread:

1. How can there be 36 records in the Period Master (GPM) when there are
only 34 buckets in the G/L Master (GGM)?

2. Why is it OK to have 2 GPM records pointing to the same GGM bucket?
Wouldn't we want to fix these problems before doing the final close? Isn't
it dangerous to do a final close with these to problems in the database?
That is, in the GPM, I would change 2012 7 thru 2012 12 to point to 19 thru
24 and delete 2013. Your comments please. Regards, Peter Lunde, BASC, MBAIT

There don't appear to be any. We have done inquiries for the account
listed on the trial balance report and it says that there are no
transactions. I'm thinking that the debit and credit values are leftovers

in the GGM becuase we haven't done the final close of 2011 yet. Accounting

says that we can wait until it is closed to see if that takes care of
things.
