We are on earlier version of BPCS, looked into BPCS quoting, decided not to
use it, because BPCS quotes are like tentative customer orders, with only
the stuff you would normally find in a customer order. This may have
evolved in later BPCS versions.

There is stuff we want to put on quotes, where there is nothing comparable
on BPCS customer orders, such as informing the potential sale that this
quote has an expiration date ... if you decide 2 years from now that you do
want us to make this for you, we will need to requite because of rapid
changes in commodity pricing.

The discount chart communicates IF you get this quantity, IF you give us
this much notice, IF you refrain from making changes inside lead times, we
can offer better prices, where a standard BPCS order already has one set of
decisions, and one conclusion price.

Our quotes seek to advertise or reminder the diversity of additional
services we offer, to enhance quality and competitiveness of end product.

We have quotes for potential customers, where we do not yet have the
business. We do not populate BPCS with customer master ship-to data on
customers where we do not yet have any confirmed business with them.

We have quotes for items not yet manufactured, where the engineering data is
based on us doing similar processes, using standard materials ... we do not
enter BOM routings etc. for the proposed item into BPCS until we get the
business. This is because of a reluctance to have high clerical overhead on
speculation. Plus, new items involve a process of pilot testing, which can
lead to design changes beyond customer original vision. So we usually get
the design perfected, before entering final data into BPCS.

Hi Group,

Anyone have recommendations on sales/order quoting solutions with ERP-LX?
This would be for discrete manufacturing for both made-to-order and stock
products ~ possibly a 'quote management process' solution that can also be
part of advanced PLM and/or CRM modules... Thx!!!

Best Regards,
