DeeDee,

I simply used the RBTSTRLRN command and was very careful to note the
variables I submitted. In this was I was able to locate the date(s) in
the variable string captured by ROBOT so that I could modify the job for
each month end run. After capturing each of my jobs I went through and
made one react to the previous job in my job stream. Looking back,
creating job groups may have been a better option but it still works.

The support people at HelpSystems are great and can help you through just
about ANYTHING if you run into trouble.

You may contact me off-line if you wish to discuss ROBOT/Scheduler and
BPCS further.

Thx Norman!

Do you recall if you made some small modifications to the BPCS
program(s) when setting each up to run via ROBOT Scheduler? Or did you
use the RBTSTRLRN command?

I've modified some BPCS programs a while back to run in batch, prior to
ROBOT. I never got around to changing the month-end jobs for scheduling
~originally because we did not kick these jobs off at a consistent time.
Timing is no longer an issue, so I thought I'd try the RBTSTRLRN command
to set them up...

We do not own Alert. We have MessengerPlus, which is now also owned by
HelpSystems...

Please do respond if you get a moment. Thx again!

Hello DeeDee,

I have actually used the ROBOT scheduler quite extensively. I actually
have it setup to run my whole month end process for me and send me pages
via ROBOT/Alert when/if something goes wrong and when the final process
has completed.

Re: [BPCS-L] ORD680B and RBTSTRLRN

Hi,

Thought I'd sneak in another question on this...

I recently switched to ROBOT Scheduler and started using the 'learn
function', RBTSTRLRN (excellent command!), and sometimes w/ OPAL
statements, to automate some of the other BPCS programs...

My question is, has anyone used this command with PUR900 and/or INV900
(month-end close jobs)? We are on BPCS 405CD...

Thx!

Steve,

If you are trying to automate ORD680B via the robot scheduler, ROBOT has
a "learn function" that will allow you to turn on the learn function and
it will record all of the correct parameters and create the necessary
batch job that you can schedule by calling ORD680D in the learn mode.

Hope that this helps.
