The Warehouse Master file, IWM, contains the last 12 month sales for the
warehouse. The fields are LSL01 to LSL12. Since a warehouse is tied to a
facility, you can easily obtain facility totals, which can be rolled
into global totals.
The alpha factor used should be determined by the significance you wish
to give recent sales. Alpha Factors are usually in the .60 to .90 range.
Unfortunately, without knowing the dynamics of your sales velocities,
there is no way to determine the best factor. I would suggest running
several different scenarios off line to determine the best factor for
your enterprise.
The ABC codes are calculated on a global basis and update the item
master; this value will default into the ICABC field of the CIC file.

We are on 8.2.1 version.
We are trying really hard to get a "good" days on hand report. Had been
using the IAVEU field from IIM - Average Monthly Usage to help in these
calculations. After digging into it - found we have our Alpha Factor
set up at .10 - so current month is weighted much less. Trying to
decide what this factor should actually be... What do all of you have
this set at at your facilities? Does BPCS have anywhere else rolling 12
monthly buckets for usage? Can it be facility specific or only global?
Also on the ABC codes -- Does INV220 use the IAVEU in it's calculation?
Will it calculate by Facility? MRP140 (CIC) shows ABC code, as well as
Item Master IIM - which does it update?
