Tom Although this problem is difficult to solve in BPCS I know of a product that will allow you to track who is using what programs and when. It's called eXert and comes from Abacus Ltd (www.abacus.gg) . They focus on compliance but because the product tracks data on all the programs that a user is accessing and reports on user, date, time, IP address, device etc. it has good security uses. You could easily find out who was using what programs and prevent it happening again. What you are also able to monitor with this product is that the number of concurrent users that you have is in line with your BPCS licence. If you are thinking of upgrading your iSeries you will have proof of your number of concurrent users before you start negotiating with Infor on the cost Best regards David Myers AIDC Solutions Limited Direct : +44 (0)1422 881920 Mobile: +44 (0)7715 487011 Office : +44 (0)1489 611636 **************************************************************************** **************************************************************************** *********** This email is confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual to whom it is addressed. Up to now, we haven't tried to restrict a user's access to selected Inventory Transactions when we set up a user in SYS600. We have used menu restrictions to restrict what our users can do. But we would like to investigate the possibilities. What are the ramifications of doing so? I'm not sure what happens if, for example, we take away a user's authority to do "B" transactions but leave "Pick Confirm" on their menu. If they run Pick Confirm, which generates "B" transactions, does it bomb out or not start at all ? When doing Inventory enquiries, does the user still see transactions of types that they aren't authorised to ? I'm sure Infor will have thought this through and it will hang together, but I want to be sure before we start restricting users in this way. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
