Roger,

We, too, sometimes have a problem with location balances going negative,
and for the same reason you have mentioned below. If people transfer
product from one location to another without de-allocating the old
location, when the product is shipped it will ship from the location that
it was in when it was allocated. This will cause two errors, not one. You
now have overstated inventory in the "new" location, and a negative
inventory in the "old" location. BPCS does not transfer the allocations
when you transfer product. Your warehouse people MUST pay attention to
what is allocated BEFORE they transfer the product. They must either leave
the product where it is, or de-allocate, and re-allocate after the
transfer. This is an age old problem with the BPCS allocation process.
Also, you can check your planning warehouse (for PO's and Shop Orders it
is call the Mass Release Warehouse) in the SYS190 program. Good luck.

PO's have Facility on the Line in HPO. FMA ( Shop Order Material ) has
a Warehouse Allocation from.
Most of our negative on hand comes from people transferring inventory and
overriding the fact it is already allocated. Or Forced allocations to a

location.

[BPCS-L] Warehouse/Facility Control

We have lots items in inventory that shows negetive in the system. What
controls what warehouse is attached to a PO when it is created? What
controls what facility/warehouse and Item is Back Flushed from? I have an
idea but this negative inventory issue has been driving me crazy and I
want to make sure with that I am on the right track getting the inventory
straighten out.

Thanks in advance
