Yes, we do have JIT. As I understand it, we don't really want to scrap the parent because production hasn't been reported on it. We just want to scrap all of the components that would have gone into the parent. Our routings are typically pretty simple with one or two "build it" operations that have run hours associated with them and a final operation to report the production. If this will work how do we do it? Dave, Are you utilizing the JIT function of reporting material and labor movement throughout the shop floor. If so you can definitely report scrap against the finished good (or parent) on the shop order. The draw back is that if you are not careful, the labor and overhead will be affected if you are not sure to report zero hours against the operation(s) in the routing. ________________________________ From: bpcs-l-bounces+dsweeney=phoenixbcinc.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx on behalf of daparnin@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wed 11/8/2006 9:18 AM To: bpcs-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [BPCS-L] Backflushing components only The other day I had a user ask if it was possible to enter scrap transactions that would backflush components only but no labor or overhead. There's nothing that I'm aware of in the transaction effect code that would accommodate this. The only thing that I could think of was duplicate parts with duplicate bills-of-material and duplicate routings. I REALLY don't want to go down that road because it would be a mess to maintain. My other thought is that if it's work in process there's probably some amount of labor and overhead associated with it. Is it possible to partially scrap a finished good at a particular operation in the routing? The only other option that comes to mind is scrapping out the components individually. Any thoughts? We are on 4.02. Thanks.
