You need to complete your statement with:

WHERE EXISTS (SELECT APH.APIRDT FROM ITSKCTST83/APH
WHERE ATX.TXVNDR=APH.APVNDR AND ATX.TXINV = APH.APINV
AND APH.PHDCYR = ATX.TXDCYR AND ATX.TXDCPX = APH.PHDCPX
AND ATX.TXDCSQ = APH.PHDCSQ AND ATX.TXCOMP = APH.APCMPY)

I think at least one record in ATX did not find a match in the SELECT
criteria, causing the error message.

I suggest you carefully examine how
* the field TXIDTE is defined in file ATX
* the field APIRDT is defined in file APH

it sounds to me, from the error message you shared, that APH.APIRDT
supports null values while TTX.TXIDTE does not.

Dates in many versions of BPCS support non-date content such as all zeros
and all nines. It may be that some date fields in some versions of BPCS,
or in some modifications, support contents that are not supported in
other
date fields designed by other programmers.

Hello,
I would like to update one field in ATX file and I try to use SQL.
The SQL statement is following:

UPDATE ITSKCTST83/ATX SET ATX.TXIDTE
= (SELECT APH.APIRDT FROM ITSKCTST83/APH
WHERE ATX.TXVNDR=APH.APVNDR AND ATX.TXINV = APH.APINV
AND APH.PHDCYR = ATX.TXDCYR AND ATX.TXDCPX = APH.PHDCPX
AND ATX.TXDCSQ = APH.PHDCSQ AND ATX.TXCOMP = APH.APCMPY)

but I receive message:

Null values not allowed in column or variable TXIDTE

could anybody explain it and how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance
Jarek
