Dan,

Your terminology is confusing because by definition if you are using hard
customer orders for your requirements, that is not forecasting. That is
just planning based on entered customer orders. The MPS module does have a
manual "forecasting" program (MRP100) that provides the ability for you to
key in forecast periods and the quantities for each period. Remember that
the program that will plan based on customer orders and/or forecasting is
MRP500 and the items that will be planned will be the ones that are
flagged as Master Scheduled (IMRP in IIM or ICMRP in CIC =M) . This is
critical because customer orders and forecast are considered "external"
demand in BPCS, and the (M) coded Master Scheduled Items will search for
external demand. Hope this helps.

RE: [BPCS-L] Forecasting question

We use MRP500C/MRP600C for MRP and Forecasting. Not really sure how it
works, but that is what we use. We only use MRP and Forecasting based on
orders and nothing else. Basically to see what is needed to make the
orders we have not based on inventory.

MRP600 is MRP not forecasting. MRP500 is MPS. The forecasting program
is a FOR program.

BPCS Version 6.1.01

In the MRP600C, how can I tell that the forecasting is running and not
the MRP?

I need to add a custom program to call but only during the forecasting
run and not the MRP run.

Daniel
