I am a mere trainee at this ... there is no urgency on answering my questions of clarification, since I may well figure it out for myself, via exploration, then when I think I know what I am doing, add something to the HELP about that whatever.

Is the copyright on the FAQ the same as on the WIKI?
and for that matter stuff in the archives

if so, we can cut and paste FAQ entries to WIKI, then edit those entries to factor in the cross-linking that WIKI supports, then when a FAQ entry is re-engineered on WIKI, update FAQ to say this or that has moved to the WIKI and give link.

I figured something out:
[[Category:Programming]] creates link to Programming
so in CLP I said that this program is the "glue" between many 400 objects such as [[RPG]] then when I saved that, I had a link to a NEW page for RPG except it got the name Template:RPG so I still need to figure out how to create plain RPG ... then after I keyed in the RPG page, that changed the Template:RPG on the CLP page to the top line of what I had keyed at RPG ... so this tells me that we can create simple definitions.

In the text where we want simple definition for _____
put that in brackets [[_____]] then link to definition
and what WAS [[_____]] becomes our short definition

It looks like it does not "take" the [[_____]] link until we return
like to CLP and rekey [[RPG]] to link to what used to show up as the Template, when we are starting some new entry.

It said Template because someone else already had done RPG
but when I changed SQL to be Structured [[Query]] Langugage it let me have new text without the Template hassle

Based on further explorations I think I need to take some existing test that someone had placed there, edit it to include reference to [[SOME TOPIC]] which then becomes a link either to what some other person earlier did, or to an empty page which can now become my new page.

This is still a big confusing to me.
Is it possible that I tried to add a page that already existed?
If so, Template RPG may as well be deleted, if I can figure out how to do that.

I visited and JOINED as Al Mac.

I added to the BPCS page with a mention of BPCS_L.
I wanted to add a NEW page for BPCS_L with category DiscussionGroup then link it to the BPCS page.

I figured I would add a little at a time so I can be corrected if what I doing is not what is wanted.

Question: Where are instructions
* how to add categories ... e.g. DiscussionGroups
* how to insert NEW pages ... e.g. BPCS_L
* how to link pages
I was considering adding a NEW page for STAR BASE
*BASE user group in Evansville, which I guess would need asterisk for letter of alphabet on the UserGroups category page

There are some trivial mismatches you or I might want to consider rephrasing.

The MAIN PAGE says all categories can be found in Special:Categories
That's easily confused with Special Pages

When we put something on our WATCH list we are told we can take it off again with "Stop Watch"
That's UNWATCH

Go to some category, such as UserGroups
from there link to one of the Groups
Notice that several say "No pages link to here."
when in fact the category links to there.

Perhaps I am misconstruing what "link" means.

Is there some place to see which Users have stuff on their Talk pages ... I see me David George Ken Paul PbHall ...it might be nice if there was something on the User List to indicate which folks have a Talk page, or to add another category just for that ... Oh the user list if RED there is no page yet ... if BLUE that is link to what they have done.

When this is no longer beta, and has more content, we might want to cross link stuff with places like (and also do some updates there)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AS/400
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS/400
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AS/400_Command_Language
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISeries
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISeries_Architecture

Folks:

As a bit of an experiment, I've setup a wiki for iSeries users.

While it doesn't have a lot of content yet, I'm opening it up to public
beta test.

The URL is http://wiki.midrange.com.
