Essentially what you are referencing is the basic setup of the configurator. The BOM and routing of the newly configured item are based upon the standard setup that you do in the beginning to drive the configurator. If you select an item that has already been configured, BPCS will know this and use the existing part number. I haven't looked at it in a few years, but I think that it inherits this "base" item number and adds slashes or something to distinguish the item. I would need access to the configurator to set it up and tell you about the options and setup, since I haven't seen it recently and the Alzheimers is kicking in. Sorry that I can't be of more help.
