In fact you do need to clear this file as the picking transactions use it,
and when it is large the transactions will slow down. You will see a big
improvement when the job has been done. Check first that nobody is in
mid-transaction of course! Don't forget to use RGZPFM after deleting
records, otherwise SQL will continue to read the deleted records and you
won't gain much.

This is also one of the files that benefits from additional indexes for
performance. (Run the database monitor during transactions and create what
it suggests.)
