You have an option must be investigated and prototyped first.

The BPCS General ledger has 13 accounting periods and a 14th period for year
end adjustments.

You could set up the system now to have 13 accounting periods.

You will need to
- change the company master file to have 13 accounting periods.
- change the period end master file to have period 12 ending December 23.
the 13th period would begin on December 24.

Question: Will December 24 be part of this financial year or be included in
next year's financial year?

If it is part of this financial year, then period 13 should work.
If it is part of next year, then maybe you could start the new financial
year period 1 on December 24.

Subject: [BPCS-L] An Extra Period

Good morning,

It seems that I've got an unusual situation fast approaching. Our parent
company has been sold and the sale will be finalized on Dec. 23. Because
of this I'm told that we will need to do a period-end on that day in
addition to the normal monthly period-end. That would give us 13 periods
this year instead of just 12. Next year we would be back to 12 periods.

We are on version 4.0.2 with a 3rd party Y2K mod and we use the financial
modules. One concern that came to mind is fixed assets. How would they be
impacted? As for setting something like this up I want to make sure that
our 13th period is for 2004 and not a period 1 of 2005. I had thought that
this was in System Parameters Generation but after looking through our test
database I don't see it. Are there any other issues or concerns that we
need to think of? Thanks.
