There must be significant reasons to lot control the product for the majority of your customers (product recalls, regulation, product traceability, product expiration, QA testing, etc.) Are those factors insignificant for the consignment customer? If not it may be worth considering ways to make it easier to capture the lot number for the consignment customer. Do they scan bar-codes? Could they also do it for your product? Is it time to implement a data capture solution? If lot control for the consignment customer provides no value then you could consider a re-designate transaction but that forces you to re-designate to a new item for all warehouse/locations where the lot resides. Hopefully the item resides in a consignment warehouse. You would need to get the product into the consignment warehouse with a "dummy" lot number. Traceability is maintained but do you wish to change to a new item? The mod suggested earlier is a good option if you have the available skills. If you would consider a new item number (with a suffix possibly indicating consignment) then you could even look at a dummy bill of material that converts the item to a consignment item. You could do an issue and receipt transaction against an always open shop order for consignments. Hello Dear all, We are using BPCS V 8.1 Mixed Mode, on aS400. We are facing with one scenario and looking for the solution. Scenario: We Produce Finshed good item , which is defined as a lot controled item. For regular cusomter we are shipping and selling it lot wise. But same item we are giving it to some customer as consignment stock. On each month End, our customer raises PO for the total qty they have utilized from our stock. We dont know from which lot they have consumed. How we want to handle: We want to have this item produced lot wise, but shipped and sold non lot wise for few customers and lot wise for few customers. May be concept of redesignation will work ?? Any ideas ?? regards _______________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
