Unless your company is going to have IT resources dedicated to Finance
and prepared to follow your prioritization, your productivity will be
enhanced through knowledge of the system.  You won't have to wait for
IT to get around to your questions and simple report requests. << grin

If you have a report writing tool available on their system, you will
be in great shape.  This list can help you figure out what files to
query for what kind of data.

We have been systematically working with the users here to get them
more independent in this respect, and it has been beneficial for all
concerned.
