We appear to have a bottleneck in how long it takes our engineers to get new items Bill of Material and Routings into BPCS so that we can properly plan for the raw materials, production, etc. of new customer parts.

I wondering if other companies can suggest ways to streamline the process.

For example we have applied OBJECT programming logic to have OBJECT routing logic. but we need to do more.

You know in programming, if a routine has been written to do some well defined task, that same routine can be used in many other new programs without re-writing it.

Likewise, in routings, we have a bunch of standard templates for operations that are common to our manufacturing ... for a new part we can copy the template, then change just a few places that has what is specific to the new part

but the whole process still seems to be time consuming for our people.
