We were being pushed by the retailers - Lowes, Depot, to go to UCC NET. Long story short we obtained a solution provider, TR2 and put in a person to collect the data. Since we have limited customers and at best a couple hundred items this was not a huge labor issue. Our users really drove this project. The long story - In our sector - Hardlines - they really are just starting to use UCC Net and, in my opinion, are not exploiting the whole idea. With that in mind, our business was not ready to "revolutionize" our item master input. I'd say we are above average in our item master origination with controls on content (we don't allow shipping and invoicing of incomplete items). Not ready to shock our culture again and not seeing a huge payback, we took the tact of satisfying the customers needs and more or less substituted our UPC for the GTIN. All other elements were available in our ERP system with some minor data collection. We put a person in place to gather the info and reek it (ok, cut and paste) into a spreadsheet. I was involved on the front end as a representative from our IT department - I have to say our users really were the ones who ran the project - the selected the vendor and really took to the method of entry and the method to submit them for review. I probably spent a couple days here and our user department really took the ball and ran with this. -----Original Message----- From: bpcs-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bpcs-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Danny Monselise Sent: Monday, May 10, 2004 12:48 AM To: bpcs-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: uccnet wwre Hi my issue is UCCnet or WWRE our clients are pushing us to go to one global repository but currently there are two repositories with may solutions for each of the two i would like to hear from you out there anyone with BPCS started dealing with the issue and maybe how in house / internet ? _______________________________________________ This is the SSA's BPCS ERP System (BPCS-L) mailing list To post a message email: BPCS-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/bpcs-l or email: BPCS-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/bpcs-l.
