Tom, There is an alternative - Archiving your BPCS data. This will return response times to what they were when you started out with BPCS, while still allowing users to query the archived data. Our archiving software (sold by Unbeaten Path in the US as 'Locksmith') is not about getting back disk space (though it will do that too) but about improving performance dramatically so that often a hardware upgrade is not needed. We can also provide database tuning for your BPCS and bolt-on data which should give you an additional 40% or so improvement. I remember visiting Planar in Finland when they started with BPCS (I was with SSA then), but I don't have a record of any tuning. So perhaps it is time to look at the cost effectiveness of this approach, kind regards, Clare Clare Holtham Director, Small Blue Ltd - Archiving for BPCS Web: www.smallblue.co.uk IBM Certified AS/400 Systems Professional E-Mail: Clare.Holtham@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Mobile: +44 (0)7960 665958 ----- Original Message ----- From: <Tom_Page@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <bpcs-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, August 05, 2003 10:39 PM Subject: New Hardware > I am running BPCS 6.101 mixed mode on a AS400 720 with 120 CPW for > interactive.
