When the time to re-up the maintenance contract came due, we were kind of in shock. Fortunately, we had just been to their first soiree (Global Client Forum) and heard they might phase in the charges if we asked. We did, and they did. We have actually discussed skipping the maintenance and staying at 6.01.01, but we haven't done it yet. As for others, Mapics is good, but probably more expensive, from what I've heard JDE doesn't really do the manufacturing side as well, SAP is a resource hog, and expensive, and I think CA-PRMS is now in the SSA-GT stable. So, it's more of a lesser of evils situation. It is due to their unrelenting attitude and the final price tag that one company is looking to move away from BPCS and on to another package. So, my question to you is: If you were in the same predicament, which package would you prefer to move on to or what package have you heard good things about? Let's assume that staying on the AS/400 is a requirement. (I strongly recommend everyone not on current maintenance to contact SSA and find out what the impact would be to your company. This issue could have an extreme impact on the viability of your company and no one should encounter this situation unprepared).
