Al, Actually JIT still requires Shop orders to be open but you do not need to know them at the time of reporting. Older versions of BPCS were even simpler to use JIT to report because it used to use the olldest open order and would even split reporting automatically against orders. SSA backward enhanced it in version 6.0 requiring an additional selection screen to choice the open shop orders. You are also correct that backflushing will only be as accurate as the BOM's, but can add better costing and closer inventory accuracy. I would have to have more details to give a better reccomendation. Just email if you want.
