BPCS 6.1.01 Mixed Mode

I am working on setting up SMGs and am a little confused by the following
requirement:
Creating a User Library for SMG Agents
To use SMG agents to update BPCS, you must create a
user library used by the external application.
1. Create a new user library for SMGs (recommendation: V61BPCSUSO) by
copying your BPCS user library (for example, V61BPCSUSR).
                                CPYLIB FROMLIB(V61BPCSUSR) TOLIB(V61BPCSUSO)

Does this really mean that we have to create a new library with duplicate
objects for every user program we use in production (modified BPCS and
custom programs)? Why can't SMGs use the same program objects as other
applications? Can we just point the SMGs to our existing library?

Thanks
