So long as the OS upgrade is on the same box, you not have to pay SSA. Until they change the rules again. The key request is so that BPCS will work on the box with the new CPU serial #. There was also a thread about if you want to test your disaster recovery plans (if any) on another box. We recently did OS to 5.1 with BPCS 405 CD. All you have to do is make sure you have the IBM PTFs on the APAR list and watch out for the OS gotchas, like not have a whole lot of stuff in the spool file when you do the upgrade. Even with that, we did take a performance hit, but it is mainly on OUR modifications using SQL in interactive processing, that I am in process of moving to batch jobs. When we moved from System/36 to Advanced System/36 under a contract that said we would have no price increase if we stayed on System/36, my management could not understand why that did not apply to Advanced System/36. Are you talking about an OS upgrade or getting a new box? I'm new to BPCS and the pricing, etc. So if I do an OS upgrade from 4.5 to 5.1 I'll have to pay? Is this correct? Andrea -----Original Message----- From: Bill Neill They will let you do that. They have several levels of support - contact your sales rep for info on the break-down of services and pricing. My current understanding is that there is a $10,000 fee for a key request if you are not on some form of agreement.
