INV920 is used to post Inventory Transactions to GL. Each Transaction/Reason code combination is matched with a corresponding Transaction/Reason code that you set up in the CEA module "Subsystem Event Determination". This directs the transaction through an "Event", to a "Model". The "Model" contains rules that may be common to multiple transactions, i.e Single & Multiple issue transactions to manufacturing orders may all decrease inventory and increase WIP, and can therefore use the same rules. Each "Model" line can contain a mixture of hard coded account numbers, "Macros", or "Advanced Macros" for 1 or more segments of your account number. "Macros" retrieve field data from specific files to populate an account segment, an amount, a statistic, or reference field. An "Advanced Macros" is any "Macro" where the retrieved cannot be used directly to an account segment, and instead is matched to an "Alias" which stores the actual account segment. Other modules have similar programs to INV920.

One of our BPCS vendor/trainor told us that we have to do the ACCOUNTING ENTRY MANUALLY FOR LINKAGE with INVENTORY costing aspect. I am quite surprised and alerted by this statement since for my past experienced in implementing ERP software in Microsoft Platform, linkage of inventory and accounting are to be of automatic type and will used manual if in case changes in the journal entry/posting. Please enlighten me. Of course, AP/AR has an effect. Regards, Melvin
