Vincent: We gave this matter serious consideration. Since it was not cost or quality justified to renew OGS, and other companies could not offer the same level of support, we chose to use Advanced Systems and Products for our support. We needed to upgrade our iseries quickly due to an acquisition. We paid a fee, and had a key relatively soon. If we had pushed the matter, we could have gotten it even sooner. Part of our disaster recovery plan allocates a certain amount of dollars to an emergency key fee should we have to activate BPCS at our recovery site. In hindsight, we should have brought ASAP into the picture sooner. We later found we could have negotiated the right to a disaster key as part of our original key fee. Another option for us would have been to use our test box as the recovery box, but it would not handle the amount of transactions we process on a daily basis without being unusable. As we've learned, with proper planning, the key becomes a minor issue. Thanks B. Cormier (TGIF!!)

In the event of a disaster recovery situation (test or real), those who are prepared to negotiate with SSAGT on a case by case basis. Those who have given this matter little consideration. Is this a satisfactory situation for BPCS sites, or for that matter, for SSAGT !!! My understanding is that SSAGT will not issue a Temporary Key unless there is an up-to-date OGS contract in place, or unless a Fee is paid. _______________________________________________ This is the SSA's BPCS ERP System (BPCS-L) mailing list To post a message email: BPCS-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/bpcs-l or email: BPCS-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/bpcs-l.
