Yes you can use a Wedge for input.    Depending on the field and the
barcode you may want to program the reader to do a field exit after the
scan.
We have used WASP readers and a Compsee wedge.    We also have a symbol
wedge and a wireless scanner.       We have used them on CLI and Idea
terminals (IBM 3497 compatible).    Item # and Quantity are good
opportunities for this application.

and are investigating wedge barcoding, primarily
in a parts inventory and management scenario.
Has anyone had good experiences?  With whom?
Can it run on GUI, or are dumb terminals required?
