Hi Ronald. If the FRT.RTOFLG field is set to "1" which means it is an outside operation, when the shop order is created the corresponding FOD.OSTAT will be "1". If FOD.OSTAT is "1" this in turn will allow you to create a Purchase Order for the Outside Services where HPO.HOUTS (Outside Operation P.O.) will be "Y", HPO.HSHOP (Shop order for outside P.O.) will be the Shop Order # in question and HPO.HOPER (Operation for outside P.O.) the outside operation within that shop order. The item in that Purchase Order will have to be the same as the one being produced in the Shop Order. When the services are completed you must receive the PO with transaction type 00 instead of U. That will register the transaction but will not increase your inventory of the item. The inventory of the item will increase when you report the shop order as completed (or the operation completed if you track WIP). This procedure will allow 2 things: 1. Be able to pay the outside processor for his/her services through BPCS AP (you need a received PO to pay someone). 2. Will add the cost of the Outside Operation to the total cost of the product being produced. I hope this is not too confusing, if you need some more clarification you can call me at 973-725-4551.
