Hello, There is actually a BMR + Readme file where you can find the instructions to implement better security on your BPCS files (this involves changing some programs to run under *OWNER authority, as well as removing the SSA Group profile from BPCS users profiles). This allows them access to the files only when using BPCS programs, and not outside of BPCS. You will need to determine a group of 'power users' who can have access to alter files or potentially read files (depending upon what level of security you wish to implement) when outside of BPCS (ie, via Query, SQL, DBU etc.). Please check into BMR 51582, plus the follow on BMR to restrict access to the command line from inside BPCS: BMR 57230. You can also download the install instructions for V8 or V81 BPCS, and check out the appendix section where this way of securing files in BPCS is also discussed (these releases were delivered with programs compiled with User Profile *OWNER, and prior releases require the BMR to update the KRSO secured source programs). Thanks, Genyphyr Novak SSA GT ----- Original Message ----- From: <gjayasun@hella.com.au> To: <bpcs-l@midrange.com> Sent: Sunday, July 14, 2002 6:52 PM Subject: SSA Group Authority > Hi ... > > Due to BPCS files having group profile of SSA , is there a method to > restrict users accessing certain sensitive data files via query? > > > We are using BPCS version 6.1 > > > Thanks in Advance > > > > Gehan Jayasundera > Hella Australia > >
