Gord - We purchased Jumpstart and have used it in a limited capacity. We have found that not all reporting applications are met by Jumpstart's catalog and some catalog revisions are inevitable. It does provide more meaningful descriptions of files and fields, but with training this obstacle can be overcome by creating your own catalog. We have also had problems with the ODBC load that Impromptu reports put on our AS/400 operating system. This has caused us to look at investing in data cubes and other data distribution solutions. One other word of caution: The amount of data that Impromptu sends across your LAN / WAN to the user's PC is staggering. We are looking at serving Impromptu using an emulation approach because of this problem. We have been successful with some applications, but we've had to find other solutions in some cases because the software hasn't lived up to its expectations. Don Lynch Interface Solutions, Inc. An integral part of this analysis involves the implementation of the SSA-GT Jumpstart pre-defined catalogs etc. We have heard "mixed reviews" in the past about this product. Would anyone share their recent experiences, good or bad, with Jumpstart? We would appreciate all feedback.
