I hope I didn't give the impression that pick confirm is the normal program where allocations are created.  Normally - product is allocated prior to pick release (online or batch allocation) or during pick release.  Pick confirm is just the last place to allocate since BPCS must be told what inventory you are shipping and it does this via the creation and then relief of allocation (ELA) records and then inventory (YCI, ILI, ILN, IWI, IIM).  Steve is exactly right - allocations may be created in a number of ways - my point was that if allocations do not exist at the time of pick confirm, the line qty will be set to zero and you will not be able to relieve inventory (basically stated . . . no allocations, not shipments).

I am assuming you do want to relieve inventory. You can pre-allocate the inventory in pick release OR you can pull the inventory transactions out of your scanner in your warehouse and populate the ELA file with the allocations. Then when you go into pick confirm the allocations would have been made.

pick confirm performs the "B" inventory issue - the is the point in BPCS where you must allocate product to ship.  if you're not ready to allocate specific product, you're probably not ready to ship it either.  BPCS pick confirm = allocate and relieve inventory.

Subject: No need allocation on Pick Confirm

Dear all ...
We're on BPCS V6.1.01  we make order with the Order class 01 ( rush order ). When we are doing pick confirm ( ORD570)  we should do allocate quanity  from desired location , that's mean we need more time to do pick confirm .
are there any experience how to set up the system parameter or what we have to do , so we don't have to do allocation when doing pick confirm .
Thank you
Regards,
Sasyanto
