Al ... You're right, that it comes from INV900; however, I definitely wouldn't
consider it "debris"! All records that are purged out of the ITH file end up in
the YTH file. I think the "plan" is that you run INV900 each month which moves
the "archived" records (based on the system parameter you set) to the YTH file,
and then you copy this file off to an archive tape and clear out the YTH for the
next month. As a food manufacturer, we need to be able to do lot tracing for a
long period of time ... longer than the 365 days we have set as our ITH system
parameter. We discovered that a better solution for us was to leave all the
archived records in the YTH file for a full 3 years, and then modify the lot
tracing inquiry to look at both files. This gives us faster record processing
on the ITH, which has the records we need most of the time, but allows us to get
to the rest when they're really needed.

Subject: YTH File

I was looking at some file statistics & got curious about this file ...
because of our closing a facility & having a bunch of parts we won't be
making any more, I have been looking at many files to see what records might
be there that we do not need any more.

YTH contents look like a mixture of inventory history & labor reporting
backflushing from a year ago last month (1999 December). Where does this
come from? Could it be INV900 debris?
