To all,

We changed from a 9406 - S20 to a 9406 - 820 processor before doing moth end
in December. The S20 was a model 2165 (two processors) with CPW ratings of
49.7 & 464.3 & 1 GB of memory. The 820 is a model 2396-1521(single
processor) with CPW ratings of 35 & 950 & 2 GB of memory.

When we did ACR900 for month end, the time to process this job was averaging
about 2 1/4 hours on the S20. With the 820, the job ran in under 25
minutes. The first things you ask yourself is what went wrong & what kind
of a mess do I have? After looking through the reports & the customer
master to make sure the fields rolled, all looks okay but only after you
spend an hour making sure.

Debated about changing processors two days before month end but I'm glad we
did it now.

Probably the biggest kicker in the upgrade was going from a P10 to a P20
pricing tier. Everything is higher now.

I have yet to take advantage of the extra memory to create more pools to
split the job processing more by application. One more thing to add to the
To-Do list.

Happy with the 820 so far.
